The town nestles at the foot of pine covered hills an area bursting with olive groves, citrusgardens, cotton fields and many varieties of flowers. Reaching up from the town of Göcek lays the 6000 feet high hills of the Taurus Mountains, beset with ancient pine and spruce woodland as well as wild gorges.

In Göcek there is a vast promenade which invites the visitor to stroll alongside the bobbing boats and the impressive yachts which sail through the Mediterranean. The town does not depend on mass all-inclusive tourism like other surrounding towns and is instead popular with owners of villas and yachts. The atmosphere is relaxed and unique. In the evenings, what better than to enjoy a cool glass of white wine on the promenade in one of the nice cafes, bars or restaurants while enjoying the beautiful view as the sun sets behind the Göcek archipelago.

ClimateWith 300 days of sunlight during the summer month, the Mediterranean climate of the Aegean coast is largely untroubled by rain. The rainy season is between November and April. The temperatures in winter vary between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius and thus are 2-4 degrees Celsius higher than in Mallorca. Between April and October the water temperature never falls below 19 degrees Celsius.
In this varied region which boasts such a wonderful coast, the sailing conditions are ideal. Indeed, as there is no turning of the tide, there are no high waves nor dangrous currents. Starting at noon, at a blue sky the summer wind »Meltem« offers lovers of sailing a constant north-westerly wind which reaches speeds of 4-5 knots. The climate in spring and autumn is quite mild with winds from different directions.
The town of Göcek is located at the foothills of the massive Taurus Mountains, which supply the region with water from its plentiful reserves. This puts Göcek/Lycia at an advantage over other Mediterranean regions during the hot summer months.
